Jesus (Theological Essential #1)

Jesus is the foundation for our church. Jesus is the promised Messianic King and Son of God come to earth as a servant, in human form. This is the most important truth of all, because He is the only way to become a Christian.

John 14:6  [Jesus said] “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

This single statement is one of the most critically important bits of information on the planet — and to you personally.

  • Jesus is the way. He’s the path to a lifetime of adventure, of fulfillment, of challenge, of purpose, and to salvation.
  • Jesus is the truth. He will provide you with wisdom and direction that works in you as you walk through the way of life. He will lead you through the good times and the tough times too.
  • Jesus is the life. Jesus — and Jesus alone — can give you confidence for your future, for all of eternity. The exclusivity of Jesus Christ alone to save us from our sins is non-negotiable.

Enemies of Jesus and His disciples will say all spiritual paths lead to God. While other religions and religious leaders can offer wise sayings and helpful insights, only Jesus Christ — because He is the perfect Son of God — is qualified to offer Himself as payment for our wrongdoing.

Some misguided voices will say that Christianity is still just one philosophy among many, and that it’s only as valid as any other religion. In other words, there are differences between religions, they all have equal claims on the truth.

No. Jesus is unique. He can’t be equated with any other religion. Christian faith is based upon the credentials and credibility of Christ.

With Jesus’ one outlandish assertion, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,” Jesus boldly and unapologetically puts Christianity in a separate class by itself.

You may be a part of the 84% of Americans who are convinced Jesus is the Son of God, that’s a good first step.

But if you’ve never acted on that belief by faith, then the truth is that you’re still in danger. Give Jesus His rightful place and allow Him to rescue you and lead you to safety, once and for all. When you do, you’ll start your Faith Journey, you’ll grow in your relationship with Him.

Through the person (credibility and credentials) and work (birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection) of Jesus Christ, God fully accomplishes salvation for us, rescuing us from judgment for sin and into fellowship with Him, and then He restores the creation in which we can enjoy our new life together with Him forever.

If you have not begun your relationship with Jesus, stop right now and pray. Make Jesus your Lord in your own words. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and then place your faith in Him by thanking Him for dying and rising again to pay the debt of your sin.

It’s that simple. But it’s only simple because Jesus, and no body else, did all the work.

If you are just now beginning to understanding the Gospel and want to start your faith journey right now, stop and pray a prayer right now.

Then believe, have faith, that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.”

You are beginning your journey to comprehend the compelling, captivating, glorious gospel of Jesus Christ! It is a lifelong journey. And, the closer you get to Jesus the more He will change you to be like Him.

To become a vibrant disciple you must first enter into the cornerstone relationship with Jesus. Only then can you learn the necessity of an intimate dependence on Him.

Genuine disciples are to become so in tune with Jesus, His will and desires, that they do not want to act independently of Him.
