What’s the Point? Parables in Luke Sermon Series
Join us this Fall as we discover the spiritual truths within the parables Jesus told in the Book in Luke.
The word “parable” literally translates as something that is thrown or placed alongside something else. Parables are the word pictures Jesus often threw alongside his teachings to illuminate their deeper meaning. Parables are simple stories or illustrations given for the purpose of conveying a distinctly spiritual lesson. They are not like allegories where each character and plot detail can represent some hidden meaning, nor are they open to multiple interpretations. Rather, most of these stories have one central point or message. Jesus taught in parables to reveal profound truth about Himself and His kingdom to all who would eagerly seek Him, ready to both listen and obey.
